Assessment: Best frequency of any route. Manchester also has the most onward flights to Funchal (Jet2, easyJet, Ryanair, TUI). Strong option as UK hub. Both Loganair and easyJet use Terminal 2.

Assessment: Jet2 flies Liverpool-Funchal (with extra Christmas flights likely). Lower IoM frequency than Manchester is a drawback, but Liverpool is a quick hop from IoM.

Birmingham (BHX)

Loganair only (easyJet does not fly IoM-Birmingham):

Loganair reinstates IoM-Belfast City flights each Christmas. In 2025 this ran on 3 Saturdays (20 Dec, 27 Dec, 3 Jan) using a 72-seat ATR 72-600, fares from GBP 69.99. Not relevant for Funchal routing but worth noting.

Funchal flight time: ~4 hours
Terminal note: Loganair, Jet2, easyJet, and TUI all use Terminal 2. Only Ryanair uses T3.
Overnight hotels: Plenty of airport hotels at Manchester, all walkable to T2

2. Liverpool (Worth Checking)

IoM leg: Loganair or easyJet, ~40 min
Funchal leg: Jet2 only (1x/week + likely extra Tuesday at Christmas)
Funchal flight time: ~4 hours
Risk: Limited Funchal frequency. Only works if dates align with the Jet2 schedule.

3. Birmingham (Possible Alternative)

IoM leg: Loganair only, 5x/week, ~60-90 min
Funchal leg: Jet2 (2x/week winter), TUI (1x/week)
Funchal flight time: ~3 hr 55 min
Constraint: Loganair does not fly IoM-BHX on Tuesdays or Saturdays. Jet2 winter Funchal flights are limited to ~2 per week. Both services must align on the same day or allow for an overnight.
