Sites to Visit

Tyne Cot Cemetery

  • Largest Commonwealth war cemetery in the world
  • Nearly 12,000 burials
  • Location: Passendale, east of Ypres

Hill 60

  • Site of fierce underground warfare
  • Preserved mine craters and trenches
  • Bring a torch for the preserved tunnels

Sanctuary Wood (Hill 62)

  • Museum with preserved trenches
  • Original WW1 trench system to walk through
  • Bring wellies in wet weather

Passchendaele Museum

  • Covered by the guided battlefield tour on 26 May
  • No separate ticket needed

Practical Tips

  • Wear sturdy footwear (wellies recommended)
  • Bring a torch for underground sites
  • Allow 2-3 hours for independent battlefield visits on Day 5
  • Morning visit recommended before driving to Bruges
