Sites to Visit
Tyne Cot Cemetery
- Largest Commonwealth war cemetery in the world
- Nearly 12,000 burials
- Location: Passendale, east of Ypres
Hill 60
- Site of fierce underground warfare
- Preserved mine craters and trenches
- Bring a torch for the preserved tunnels
Sanctuary Wood (Hill 62)
- Museum with preserved trenches
- Original WW1 trench system to walk through
- Bring wellies in wet weather
Passchendaele Museum
- Covered by the guided battlefield tour on 26 May
- No separate ticket needed
Practical Tips
- Wear sturdy footwear (wellies recommended)
- Bring a torch for underground sites
- Allow 2-3 hours for independent battlefield visits on Day 5
- Morning visit recommended before driving to Bruges
